Mardi Gras Celebrations

Today Hartshill Academie’s French department celebrated the Mardi Gras festival which is a festive day in France on Shrove Tuesday, which marks the close of the pre-Lenten season. The French name Mardi Gras means Fat Tuesday as on this day they eat all the fatty food in their home before Lent.

A range of sweet treats were on offer, including crepes with lemon and sugar, and also Miss Fekih’s home baked traditional French pastries. Pupils in both Year 7 and 9 had to order these foods in French, putting into practice the work they have learnt in the classroom.
